The Avent Philips baby monitor SCD525 is full of advanced features

The Avent Philips baby monitor represents the latest in technology and comfort features in baby monitors.  Unlike baby monitors made just a few years ago the Avent Philips baby monitor is chock full of features designed not only to comfort your child, but give you more piece of mind as well.  The good news is that all of this goodness costs just about the same as less capable baby monitors.  Let’s go ahead and take a more detailed look at the features you’ll find on this highly rated baby monitor.

The Avent Philips baby monitor uses DECT technology, what is that anyway?

Good question, seems like every manufacturer these days wants to come up with some catchy phrase to make their product sound more high tech than their competition.  DECT simply means ‘Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology”, or, to put it simply, this is a digital device and it has no wires.

What does this really mean?  Well, the Avent Philips baby monitor, such as the SCD525 has a range well over 1000 feet, which simply blows away the competition.  In addition, the connection is 100% secure and immune to interference.  The device scans over 50 different channels and uses the one with the least amount of interference.  In addition, the data it sends is encrypted so nobody can interfere, or listen in on your child.

What are some of the features of the SCD525 that give me piece of mind, and comfort my baby?

The Avent Philips baby monitor is chock full of features that allow you to customize it’s settings for the best performance.  Let’s look at these.

  • First off you can adjust the sensitivity and volume to adjust for the noise level of the environment.  so, if it’s noisy outside you can adjust the sensitivity to adjust to this.  In this way you can be sure the unit will actually pick up any noise in the nursery, with other units that aren’t adjustable you can’t really be sure.
  • Next this unit in addition to having an audio alert also has LED lights that visually indicate the noise level in your baby’s room.  In this way you can mute the device, such as when on the phone or watching TV and still know what’s going on.
  • Temperature tracking.  This is something new on baby monitors, you can monitor the temperature in your baby’s room and you’ll get an alert if the temperature is too hot or too cold.
  • Now here’s something I really like.  The Avent Philips baby monitor not only has a gentle night light which can be controlled remotely, but also 5 built in lullaby’s which you can also start remotely.  These two features I really like in case your baby starts to stir.
  • If the light and lullaby’s aren’t enough the SCD525 also has a built in intercom so you can talk to your baby remotely too.
  • This baby monitor also has a power saver mode, which they call ‘eco-mode’, the unit will reduce power on the transmitter if the receiver unit is close by, thus saving energy.  Speaking of energy the unit can go about 24 hours without being recharged, and there is of course a low power indicator.
  • For piece of mind there’s an indicator that will show you if you’re getting too far away from the base unit, so you’ll always know you’re in range.
