Common cold remedies have been out there since the first caveman sneezed.  Some work, but unfortunately most don’t.  There are however some common cold remedies that are not only all natural, but actually work pretty good.  If you feel uncomfortable popping pills every time you feel a bit under the weather then perhaps you should explore some common cold remedies that are all natural.

  • First off is elderberry; this has long been used as a natural cold remedy for colds, flu and even respiratory infections.  Many studies have shown the elderberry extract can fight off viruses.  You should only use commercially produced elderberry extract since the actual plant contains cyanide, and that isn’t going to make you feel better.  Elderberry extract is one of the common cold remedies that work to fight off infections.
  • Ginger root or tea.  This type of common cold remedy has been around in Asian culture for ages.  Good for runny nose and coughs.
  • Ginseng/Echinacea:  Common cold remedies such as ginseng and Echinacea are actually common ingredients in over the counter cold remedies.  These should be taken every 2 or 3 hours.
  • You wouldn’t think of hones as common cold remedies but it is, it’s great for treating coughs and, even better, dark hones has anti-bacterial properties and anti-oxidant benefits.
  • Most people recommend you take vitamin C at the first sign of a cold.  The fact is vitamin C does NOT reduce the incidence of colds.  Taking vitamin C however can, and does, reduce the duration of a cold.  This is one of those common cold remedies that should probably not be taken as a preventive measure, but more as a way to get over a cold quicker.
  • And finally there is Garlic.  Of all the common cold remedies there are this one stands out as the absolute best.  Many cultures out there have some form of natural cold remedy concerning Garlic, whether in soup, eaten raw or in drinks, and for good reason.  Studies have shown that people who take garlic get fewer colds, and recover from them very quickly.

So there you have it, a list of common cold remedies, all natural that you can easily purchase locally or over the Internet.  Of all the common cold remedies here garlic stands out as an amazing natural cold remedy.
