All you need is some motivation to get in shape

Lets face it, most of us know exactly what we need to do to get in shape, the problem is motivation.  I started trying to get in shape many times, until finally, with some effort and dedication I was able to lose some weight and now, at 44 years old i’ m in the best shape of my life.  Here are some of the things I did to get started and finally get in shape.  Follow some or all of these tips to get, and stay motivated to lose some weight and finally get in shape.

Top motivational tips to help you get up and finally get into shape

  • Take a photo of yourself at your current weight and display it where you’ll see it everyday. The front of the refrigerator is great. You’re going to use this picture daily to stay motivated to get in shape.
  • Set some realistic goals for yourself. Set long term and, more importantly, weekly goals. They don’t have to be too specific, something simple like; ‘lose weight this week’ or ‘bench press 5 more pounds this week’  Getting in shape is not an overnight process, it takes time.
  • Reward yourself for attaining your weekly goals.  Treat yourself to a night out or some shopping.  Treat yourself, but remember your desire to get in shape and don’t go overboard.
  • Associate with fit and healthy people, their habits will rub off on you. Maybe they have some tips to help you get in shape, just ask!
  • Join an online fitness community, even better, one with online goal and results tracking.  Get more motivation and more weight loss tips there.
  • Treat yourself to a cheat meal every week.  Make sure to look closely at the type and size of people who eat unhealthy fattening fast food everyday.
  • Buy yourself a healthy eating cookbook and try one new recipe each week. Most of these books are full of healthy meals to help you get in shape, take advantage of them.
  • Donate your fat clothes to the Salvation Army or other charity when they get too big for you to wear. Nothing is more motivational than having no ‘fat’ clothes to wear if you give up.
  • Keep a diet and exercise log. You’ll be able to track your progress and make changes in your diet or exercise routines if you fail to get results that week.
  • Take bi-weekly pictures of yourself and put it next to your original fat picture so you can see your progress.
  • If you ever lose your motivation go take a look at your fat picture that will surely motivate you to renew your desire to get in shape.
